A little update from Karen!

We have been chugging along on this project for the last six months and it is coming together beautifully. To be honest, if I had known how complicated this was going to be, I don't think I would have jumped into it so quickly!
We are a little behind on where we wanted to be by now but I am so lucky we have a wonderful team of people who are working so tirelessly to make this book a reality. The essays are almost all in the final stages of review and they are amazing. I was hopeful I was going to finish the art this month, but I have run into a roadblock; I am having shoulder and neck issues, most likely due to working at my Cintiq for long hours each day. The knots in my muscles are causing numbness in my arm and hand, and terrible migraines.
I was planning on spending the next few days knocking out a bunch more of the art for the book before heading to Florida for a signing I am doing as part of the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, but I think my body is telling me I need to take more of a break. I am doing heat/ice and getting back to PT, and although the thought of stopping and delaying further stresses me out, I am going to take a break from art until I get back from Florida.
Thank you for being so patient! I will keep posting some of the art that you haven't seen yet - starting with this Aretha Franklin portrait I just finished - as well as some snippets from the essays, and page layouts, and will continue sharing updates on our progress as we get closer and closer to printing.
For anyone who may be attending the festival, I will be there Friday, February 11th-Monday, February 14th from 2pm-5pm each day. Only the Star Wars art that I have done for ACME Archives will be on sale but I will sign anything you bring me. The booth is near the Mexico pavilion and I looking forward to getting margaritas after I'm done signing :)

Hello backers!
Amy, Karen's Business Manager, here with an update for you on the book development.
We have been chugging along through what is a fairly lengthy process to get the essays in final form. Writers have been submitting their drafts, they are reviewed by our sensitivity reader, our editor, go to our proofreader and then back to the writers for final approval. Phew!
It's been a lot of fun and exciting to see the final pages really come together, and we're so in awe of the amazing contributors to this project and their many talents.
At this time we're still planning to meet our goal of getting the book to the printers by end of year, but we will update as we get closer if we anticipate any delays.
In the meantime, please enjoy a sneak peak at the essay below which will appear in the book.

This is Amy, Karen's Business Manager, here with an update - Karen is still recovering from her hip replacement surgery so I am stepping in! First, on behalf of Karen and the entire creative team behind this book, I just wanted to thank you so much for your incredible support. We're so excited to bring this inspirational book to life.
We will be opening up a BackerKit platform in the coming weeks which will enable you to edit your pledge and add on more items than you may have originally pledged for, including some new items that were not available on Kickstarter. You will get an email from Backerkit when it is launched with instructions on how to edit your pledge and confirm your items. Additionally, since our shipping window is so far out, you will have time to edit your shipping address up until about 4-6 weeks prior to shipping.

Thank you so much for making this Kickstarter such a success!
We have reached 200K and now we will have 120 portraits and essays in this book!
I have also added another sticker pack and pin pack to the add-ons.
I have been trying to find a balance between offering pin/sticker options but also not making it too complicated. We will be doing a backerkit to hopefully add options for international backers.
If you need help customizing your order for add-ons, here are the instructions:
"While a project is live you can adjust your pledge by visiting the project page and clicking the “Manage your pledge" button. On the following page, select "Change your pledge".
From here, you’ll be able to adjust your pledge amount or switch to a different reward tier (changing reward tier will automatically update your pledge amount). Additionally, you’ll have the option to add any add-on rewards, or give a little extra with bonus support.
If you’d prefer not to receive a reward, simply change to the "Make a pledge without a reward" tier and enter your new pledge amount.
Remember, when changing your pledge amount you are not adding to your existing pledge, the new amount you enter will be the total amount collected if the project is successfully funded."
